Audiovisual Authors Make Progress in China

In the digital magazine Expansion.com is related the interview given in Madrid to that medium by Zhu Zongde, President of the Chinese society for the copyright of authors of audiovisual works and it is stressed the awareness that is being acquired in his country regarding to the right of creators, even when for a long period of time prevailed the saying "you can not steal anything, but you can steal books."
Mr. Zongde also referred that while the awareness about copyright is rising among people, the Chinese authorities are reviewing existing legislation to extend protection, and in that matter, authors of that country are calling for tougher penalties against piracy.
The Chinese film director is in favor of the Internet development, rather than its censorship, considering that the Internet is an indispensable tool for the dissemination of works; but advocates for ways to reduce digital piracy, while at the same allow universal access to authors and artists’ creations from around the world.
Mr Zongde visit Spain to enter in a contract with the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE), which will represent and manage the rights of the Chinese authors of audiovisual works in Europe and Ibero-America.
